The senior ride operator at Dreamworld’s Thunder River Rapids Ride, Peter Nemeth, has given evidence into the ongoing inquest to the tragedy that occurred in 2016.

Nemeth, who is a trained Level 3 ride operator, told the inquest on Tuesday he tried pressing the red conveyor stop button “two or three times”, and panicked when the conveyors did not immediately stop.

The court later learned Dreamworld staff were given different information about the emergency buttons on both the control and maintenance panels, and Ardent Leisure did not run “simulations” in emergency events on any of the rides at Dreamworld.

The court also learned co-ride operator Courtney Williams was only trained the morning of the incident. She is expected to give evidence into the inquest later today.
