The brother-in-law of former Queensland premier, Campbell Newman, has been charged with one count of fraud following a lengthy $5 million investment fraud investigation.

Sebastian Monsour, chief executive officer of real estate development company Majella Group, was charged by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Financial and Cyber Crime Group on Thursday afternoon.

Mr Monsour has never been in business with Mr Newman, who says his brother-in-law was entitled to his day in court.
