The wrangle over Queensland's railway lines has worsened as freight hauler Aurizon hit back at mining-industry accusations that it is "playing games" with the state's coal exports.

The Queensland Resources Council took out advertisements in national newspapers on Wednesday accusing Aurizon of disregarding its mining customers.

Aurizon issued a response saying the QRC had rejected two offers from Aurizon to discuss its new approach to rail maintenance - an approach which has angered the Queensland coal industry - and labelled the lobby group’s stance disappointing.

Queensland Treasurer Jackie Trad said the government encouraged all parties to engage in consultation in good faith.
