A mystery object called Oumuamua that passed through our solar system has been identified as a comet after much debate and investigation from astronomers.

The 800 meter long, cigar shaped object was originally rumoured to be a dry asteroid as it slingshot past our sun at 315,000km per hour.

The unique characteristics of Oumuamua make it a first in the field, giving scientists a rare opportunity to study an object coming from another planetary system up-close.
