Mental Health Minister Martin Foley says that Victoria’s first safe injecting room will be opening in Melbourne within days.
The opening of the room marks the beginning of a two-year trial in inner Melbourne, in response to an increase in drug-related deaths in North Richmond.
The safe injecting room trial was approved by state parliament, local councils and medical experts, and will allow drug users to inject any drug with supervision of medical practitioners.
