A Thai tourist boat named, ‘The Phoenix’, has capsized off the coast of Phuket, with 53 of its passengers currently missing and one man confirmed dead.
The boat was returning from Koh Racha in the late afternoon when a storm hit, seeing five meter waves hit the side of the boat keeling it on its side and forcing passengers to don life vests.
The majority of the passengers were Chinese tourists, and Thai officials called off the search until the morning when the weather calmed. Many are still unaccounted for.
