David Davis, the UK Brexit secretary has resigned after finding his position untenable with Prime Minister Theresa May’s recent decision to have looser ties with the European Union after Brexit.

BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg says there are significant tensions within cabinet, as the prime minister selected a mix of remain and leave supporters to serve in the ministry.

Kuenssberg also says it is likely another minister will leave with Mr Davis, and the position of Brexit Secretary is likely to be filled by Environment minister Michael Gove.
