Tasmanian child protection worker, Ted Sheerin, has called out work practices he believes could lead to the death of at risk children.

He said it’s not appropriate to deal with a child at risk by calling parents who are suspected of harming that child and asking them to take the child to the hospital, saying the child needs to be visited and checked on instead.

Mr Sheerin says the at-risk child must also be visited and checked on in its home environment after being discharged from hospital.
