Former deputy Prime Minister, Barnaby, Joyce has been cleared of allegations that he misused taxpayer funded travel expenses to spend time with his advisor and girlfriend, Vikki Campion.

Joyce claimed approximately $16,000 in refunds for two months in Canberra last year when parliament was not sitting.

While the Independent Parliamentary Expenses Authority cleared Joyce, their report which was released on Thursday, said they had to take Joyce at his word.

The authority’s report said only Joyce could determine that his overnight stays in Canberra were required for official business.
