Johnson & Johnson will pay at least $742 million in damages to 22 women who claimed asbestos in the company's talc products caused them to develop ovarian cancer.

After reaching a unanimous verdict on Thursday to award damages for the plaintiffs, jurors will resume consideration over how much to award in punishment damages.

Mark Lanier, the plaintiffs' lawyer, says Johnson & Johnson knew its talc products were contaminated with asbestos, but kept this information from reaching the public and also rigged tests to avoid showing the presence of asbestos.
