Liberal backbencher Dean Smith is calling for an inquiry into Australia’s population and the impact of immigration.
Smith says Australia hitting the 25 million population mark nine years earlier than predicted by the Howard government is a cause of concern.
He says moderating immigration intake would give Australia time to breathe and to develop a population policy to allow proper planning while maintaining social cohesion.
