Eleven awards for training and apprenticeships have been presented over the weekend at the regional final of the Queensland Training awards.

Six apprentices, trainees and vocational students were presented with an award, as well as one vocational educator, a training project and three employers.

Minister for training and skills development Shannon Fentiman was represented by Mackay MP Julianne Gilbert at the event, who said it is important to celebrate the achievements of trainees and apprentices as the state needs more skilled workers and businesses which support industry career-building.
