Millions of Australians are choosing to opt out of My Health Record as backlash about the scheme continues to build.

Health minister Greg Hunt says it has been projected that 10% of Australians will opt out of the program due to privacy concerns.

Australian Medical Association President Kerryn Phelps says many of her colleagues are “deeply concerned”.

A petition calling on the government to change My Health Record to an opt-in-model has received 20,000 signatures.

Australians have until October 15 to opt out of My Health Record by phone or online.
