Brisbane City Council has released tenders for the two main projects of the anticipated Brisbane metro, with the tender for vehicles and an estimated 315 million dollar upgrade to the Cultural Centre Station.

Cr Adrian Schrinner said the overall project would likely change following input from businesses, but stressed the importance of putting forward ideas for the station upgrade that would "wow people".

“The new underground Metro station we want to build through this project is the busiest public transport station in Queensland. It has to be more than a functional station, it has to create a sense of arrival.” he said.

Labor Opposition transport spokesman, Jared Cassidy, said a $315 million station and a billion-dollar busway extension was an expensive tender and would like to see Brisbane companies given preference for the work.
