A recent Queensland estimates hearing found that thousands of inmates in Queensland’s prisons are testing positive for drugs.
Queensland Corrective Services identified prescription drug buprenorphine as the most popular, often taken as a substitute in heroin and methadone dependence treatment.
Corrective Services Minister Mark Ryan said that the government has a zero tolerance policy for drugs in prison and that they will continue to increase their focus on prevention strategies.
