Councillor Paul Tully has written a submission to the parliamentary committee to compensate Ipswich city councillors who are about to sacked.

In a bill being pursued by Local minister Stirling Hinchliffe, the entire Ipswich council would be sacked follow a corruption scandal including staffed workers and elected officials.

Mr Tully proposes that Ipswich councillors should be entitled to fair compensation if the government proceeds with the bill, as in almost every jurisdiction, a worker is afforded the same. He further added innocent councillors were being punished.

The corruption scandal has seen 15 people with council links charged with more than 70 corruption and related offences.
