Melbourne’s Federation Square is set to accept its nomination for heritage protection, which may disrupt planned developments.
The move is being labelled as unprecedented and will affect construction of projects such as Melbourne’s proposed Apple flagship store since Heritage Victoria is required to assess all future developments at protected sites.
However National Trust Victoria Chief Simon Ambrose has concerns that there has been “no attempt to consult Victorians”.
