The renovation of an inner-city building has uncovered historical original signage that Brisbane City Council wants to preserve and leave on show for the public.

The building on Logan Road was until recently occupied by a cafe and violin maker, but was vacated for renovation work that will convert the space into a large, two-storey restaurant.

A timber facade that reads, “John Hunter Logan Road Branch” is visible on the signage as well a the words “shoes” and “leather.”

The facade has been hidden by a blue material for more than 30 years.
