24 people, including an eight-year-old girl, have been rescued from flash flooding in the Pollino (Po lee no) National Park in southern Italy.

Witnesses said heavy rain in the National Park area and surroundings caused a rush of flood water and rocks through the Raganello creek, where two groups of hikers were exploring.

Rescuers continue to look for survivors, and helicopters have airlifted the injured people to local hospitals.
