An Indonesian Kindergarten has come under fire for viral footage of children walking down a street during the independence day celebrations wearing niqabs and carrying cardboard cut-outs of AK47 rifles.

In a local press conference on Saturday, the head of the school apologised for the incident, according to a report from CNN Indonesia.

They said they didn't mean any harm, nor did they have the intention to instil any sense of aggression in the children.
