The Northern Territory has become the first Australian Jurisdiction to place a Floor Price on alcohol in an Attempt to curb the states level of alcohol-related harm.
Attorney- General Natasha Fyles says the new laws are set to target the cheaper forms of alcohol for sale by charging a $1.30 per standard drink under the new laws in order to tackle the states alcohol-related crime and anti-social behavior.
However, the new restrictions have been met with criticism such as Independent MLA Robyn Lambley who said the introduction of the new alcohol restrictions is a government attempt at social control.
