We have seen bushfire season begin much earlier this year and the fires have been more intense and frequent than expected. The NSW Rural Fire Service has declared the earliest fire danger period on record and crews in NSW and QLD have been battling fires already. 4ZZZ Reporter Jack McDonnell spoke with Greg Mullins, a Climate Councillor and former New South Wales Fire and Rescue Commissioner about the upcoming bush fire season. Greg has over 50 years experience studying bushfires and even now is a volunteer firefighter. Greg says he is extremely scared about the upcoming season as these weather conditions are indicating that fires will be more frequent and harsher. For Greg, climate change is the only answer to why these fires are happening earlier and are more dangerous.
