Investigators have been sent to Hunan province in China after local officials were accused of delivering fake data on water quality in the region.
Reports said the river, in Zhuzhou is badly polluted by sewage water, however there is widespread suspicion the local officers faked their investigation.
It is believed the officers set up equipment to investigate water safety levels but used them to monitor bottled water instead of the river, as well as one of them being placed in a cup of tea.
