The Queensland Environmental Department have launched an investigation into six groundwater bores drilled by Adani which conservationists say were sunk without approval.

Departmental staff said the dewatering bores were not in place at the time of a recent site inspection.

Drone footage shows Adani have cleared vegetation, roads and built permanent infrastructure for the construction of the bores.

Conservationists repeatedly warned Adani’s dewatering plans will see groundwater levels plummet and threaten nearby nationally important Doongmabulla Springs.
