The Brisbane Mater Mothers' Public Hospital is investigating the death of a woman died two days after being discharged from hospital last month, after giving birth.

It’s understood she suffered a suspected blood clot after having a caesarean delivery.

On Thursday, Mater Health Chief Executive Officer Sean Hubbard confirmed the investigation, but gave no further details. He says as with any unexpected clinical outcome, Mater will conduct a thorough and detailed review into the care and treatment provided while she was at Mater, and that the case has also been referred to the coroner.
