Australian immigration officials have forcibly deported an Iraqi asylum seeker, even though he awaited a federal court case, scheduled for next week.

Lawyers attempted to get a legal injunction to prevent the deportation, but were prevented from communicating with him before the plane took off.

This latest deportation follows more the deportation of more than 10 Sri Lankan asylum seekers on Tuesday, with some of these men awaiting court challenges after more than six years detention in Australia.
