The Electoral Council may be forced to re-align electoral boundaries for two wards in the Brisbane City Council.

Residents of both the electorate of Chandler and the Gabba may have to vote elsewhere in the next council election.

The City of Brisbane Act 2010 states that there must be between 27,000 and 32,000 voters in each ward, with Chandler falling short and the Gabba exceeding it. Electoral Commision of Queensland and Local Government Minister Stirling Hinchliffe must be advised by the council by October 2, two years in advance of the council election in March 2020.
