Thousands of signatures on an online petition opposing Queensland’s Termination of Pregnancy Bill are false, with some names being repeated up to eight times.
3000 of the more than 20 000 signatures were discovered to be duplicated and have since been removed, after software detected large numbers of irregularities.
The discovery was disclosed to Queensland Parliament yesterday as the public submission was considered and the presentation of the petition may be delayed while it’s investigated.
