German doctors treating Pyoter Verzilov of Russian protest group Pussy Riot said it is highly plausible he was poisoned based on his symptoms.
The doctors said they cannot say how the poisoning might have occured or who was responsible.
Mr Verzilov has been in intensive care since arriving in Berlin from Moscow on Saturday.
