The University of Queensland revealed a proposed development plan which includes the demolition of the historic Schonell Theatre.
The plan caused concern within the student body, alumni and local community which has led to arts student Nicholas Comino launching a petition to save the theatre.
Mr Comino said the theatre is not just important to UQ students but to all of Brisbane, and the demolition plans show a total lack of care about culture and history.
