20,000 people have marched on the Swiss capital of Bern demanding wage equality between genders.

Switzerland's largest union, Unia, has stated that women are sick of sexism, discrimination and wage inequality. They urge the Swiss government to fulfil its constitutional mandate for Gender equality.

Corrine Scharer of the Unia board of directors, said that even though a woman may have the same position and experience as a man, she is cheated thirteen thousand dollars over the course of her career simply due to her gender.

If Unia’s demands are not met, the union and other organisations will call for a womans strike with the goal to make wage equality a reality.
