A section of shore on Rainbow Beach has collapsed, with water now reaching the treeline of Inskip Point.
The collapse follows a near-shore landslide that swallowed caravans at a nearby campsite in 2015.
Sunshine Coast University Earth Sciences lecturer Peter Davies said while the collapse will repair itself it’s inevitable another will occur.
