The National Congress of Australia’s First People have vocalised criticism as a result of Prime Minister Scott Morrison disregarding a proposal for an Indigenous voice to parliament.

The Prime Minister suggested that an Indigenous advisory body would end up like a “third chamber of parliament”.

This statement opposes a suggestion he made on Wednesday, where he said he was open to a ‘conversation’ regarding a national holiday for First Nation people.

Rod Little, member of the National Congress, said it was ‘hypocritical’ to judge the nature of the advisory body and outlined his disappointment.
