Australia’s trade minister Simon Birmingham says the country is ‘disappointed’ with US President Donald Trump’s tariff plan on Chinese goods and services.

Senator Birmingham suggests that the US is threatening the global trade order that Australia relies on.

He also outlined that Australia is committed to free trade and open markets, vocalising that they are “disruptive in terms of some of the dispute resolution mechanisms that Australia relies upon quite heavily.”

President Trump outlined this plan in his recent speech to the United Nations.
