The first cannabis clinic in Queensland opened yesterday, in the Brisbane suburb of Belmont. Cannabis Access Clinic opened the office, after opening ones in Sydney and Melbourne.

Before going to the clinic, a patient must get a referral from their GP or specialist who believes they may benefit from such medical treatment. If successful, patients will be charged $300 out-of-pocket for an initial consultation; this includes an application to government for approval, which can take up to four weeks to process.

These clinics treat patients with conditions such as chronic pain (including cancer-pain), chemotherapy-induced nausea, vomiting in cancer, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, anxiety, sleep disorders, and PTSD.
