New data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics suggests that Melbourne is underway to become Australia’s largest city by as early as 2028.

This prediction also goes to say it will grow to 8 million by 2050, the size of London and New York City.

Demographer Bernard Salt says it's the ‘fourth-fastest growing city in the planet’, with investment seen as necessary to sustain its livability. He suggests with extraordinary growth, mitigation of congestion is necessary.
