Hundreds of jobs have been lost as major central Queensland building company JM Kelly collapsed; devastated workers were called yesterday morning, being told to pack up and go home.

Administrators have confirmed the Rockhampton-based company went into voluntary administration and eight of its sub-companies are being liquidated. This decision comes after a long-time struggle of legal issues with John Murphy, who JM Kelly are headed up by.

Regional Manager for Master Builders Queensland, Dennis Bryant, says the worst part about this is there are now 230 employees out of work, including 40 apprentices—who are all locals in the community.
