The United States and Great Britain have pulled out of a major economic forum in Saudi Arabia in response to the alleged murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Khashoggi, a journalist often critical of the Saudi Royal Family, was last seen entering their embassy in Turkey, and security footage since then has revealed black vans departing the building.
A spokesperson for the UK Government said Trade Secretary Liam Fox’s decision to decline the invitation was explicitly tied to events in Turkey.
