Queensland police are pushing for all new cars to come fitted with the ability for officers to remotely apply the breaks or shut down engines.
Queensland Police Commissioner Ian Stewart says the ability would aid law enforcement, and has the support of the Queensland Police Union who has lobbied for six years on implementing the changes.
Police Minister Mark Ryan says the question of whether to mandate remote vehicle immobilisers has been placed on the agenda for next week's meeting of national Police Ministers.
