The UN Human Rights Committee said France’s ban on the Niqab is a violation of human rights and has called on it to review the legislation.
Under the current ban, anyone wearing a full face veil in public in France is liable to a fine of up to two-hundred-and-fifty dollars.
A French Foreign Ministry spokesman said the law is legitimate, necessary and respects religious freedom.
