Queensland union membership is on the rise, with thousands of workers signing up last year according to the Annual Report of the President of the Industrial Court of Queensland.

The Queensland Council of Unions attracted 11,848 new members in 2017/2018, a rise of 4 per cent from the previous year.

Queensland Council of Unions general secretary Ros McLennan said the growth in membership is a result from the Change the Rules campaign, which aimed to win pay rises for workers to keep up with the cost of living.
