According to a new report released Monday by the advocacy group World Wildlife Fund, populations of mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians have declined by 60 percent since 1970.

The animals that remain will fight against warming oceans filled with plastic, toppled rainforests may zero out fragile species, and refuge such as coral reefs may nearly die off.

Chief executive of the WWF in the United States Carter Roberts, said that will transform life as humanity knows it and told the Washington Post the numbers are ‘astonishingly bad’.
