Funding from the State Government will add forty full-time jobs up to 2022, to Queensland Medical research at the QIMR Berghofer, allowing for development of better treatments for patients with multiple sclerosis and some cancers.

State development Minister Cameron Dick, said the 1.4million dollar investment will allow the institute to lead the way internationally when it comes to immunotherapy.

Professor Rajiv Khanna, Co-ordinator of the Centre of Immunotherapy and Vaccine Development, said immunotherapy was invaluable in terms of increasing a patient’s quality of life, and the funding would allow them to deliver therapies to critically ill patients.
