Community leadership is needed to unlock the apathy of most Brisbane residents towards their rivers, as mud from upstream remains a major problem to the $7.56 billion tourism and business asset, Moreton Bay.

Griffith University professor Rod Connolly said strong leadership was needed to prevent sediment flowing downstream to Moreton Bay.

This year South East Queensland’s river catchment was rated a D+ by Queensland Premier’s waterways authority, Healthy Land and Water.
