NASA’s InSight rover makes touchdown on the surface of Mars just after 6am this morning.

It’s mission is to study Marsquakes and to probe under the surface of the planet, in search of water.

The InSight lander - short for Interior Exploration Using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport - is very different to Mars rovers. The mission’s deputy lead, Sue Smrekar says the lander doesn’t have wheels and needs to stay in one place and be as quiet as possible.
