A Chinese researcher has claimed that he helped make the world’s first genetically edited babies, he claims the edited baby genes may stop spread HIV.

The twin girls were born this month, and He Jiankui of Shenzhen said he altered their DNA with a powerful new tool capable of rewriting the very blueprint of life.

Some scientists were astounded to hear of the claim and strongly condemned it. Dr. Kiran Musunuru, a University of Pennsylvania gene editing expert and editor of a genetics journal said the edited baby genes is not morally and ethically defensible.
