In the first Australian study of its kind, Edith Cowan University uncovers a curious double standard in terms of gender expectations about what's acceptable and what’s not in nightclubs today.

Researcher Aimee-Rose Wrightson-Hester, who surveyed 381 Australians aged 18-30 for the study, said the findings were surprising - with both genders being more accepting of women grabbing, groping and grinding whilst also regarding this culture as unacceptable.

In 2018, 1 in 5 women and 1 in 20 men experienced sexual harassment in Australia, with 93% of perpetrators being male.
