Animal experts continue to warn of the parallel between acute climatic events and snake behaviours after a North Queensland man was bitten multiple times by a non-venomous tree snake that ended up in his bed.

Mackay based snake catcher Brett Modra said the occurrence was only one of many recent erratic snake behaviours witnessed in Australia, with the likelihood of a snake coming into a dwelling to escape the heat, higher than it used to be.

The overall warming trend has disrupted snakes’ breeding cycles, with more snakes acting aggressively as a result of extreme heat.
