The University of Sydney has moved to sack lecturer Tim Anderson, alleging serious misconduct, after he showed students images of a Nazi swastika imposed over the flag of Israel.

Dr Anderson has drawn widespread criticism following several visits to Syria and North Korea, expressing support for their dictatorial regimes, and condemning western Imperialism and the US.

Dr Anderson has dismissed the complaints against him as petty and absurd, saying he will appeal the university’s decision and accused them of “political censorship”.
