Several sororities and fraternities have filed lawsuits against Harvard University, saying their crackdown on single-sex clubs has violated anti-discrimination laws and the US constitution.
The university’s policy was made in an an effort to combat gender discrimination and prevents members of single-sex organisations from receiving certain scholarships and taking leadership positions.
The groups argue that the university has disproportionately singled them out, pointing out that students could for example, join a white supremacist party and not be subject to the restrictions.
